Intro to Me
January 10, 2018
Since I hope we'll be spending some time together, I thought I'd take a few minutes to introduce myself. I'm a woman of a certain age and I've been married to the same fantastic guy for more years than seem possible. Together we've raised and launched three successful daughters. Two terrific sons-in-law have joined the family. And I am now the totally besotted Grandma (Oma) of an amazing grandson.
My actual work-for-a-paycheck history is rather spotty due to frequent moves, my husband's travel, the aforementioned three children, and my becoming an amputee (below the knee) many years ago, which has shaped much of my life but does not define me.
I love to travel and I'd rather read than almost anything.
Like most of us, I have a few special talents:
I know all the words to "Ya Got Trouble (in River City)" from The Music Man, although I don't always get the verses in the right order. (Available for parties.)
I can fold a map. Anyone who just said, "What's a map?" raise your hand. I can fold all the tissue paper pattern pieces so they slide neatly back into their original envelope. And, Ta-Da! I can fold a fitted sheet so it's hard to tell from its flat partner.
I happily drive long distances, passing the time by singing along to classic rock and Broadway musicals, and main-lining diet colas (caffeine). I generally arrive hoarse, but alert.
I have an extraordinary memory for details, as long as they are of no use to anyone, especially me.
And, having grown up in Jersey, I think of a traffic circle as a simple convenience, not a strategy from the dark side to bring down civilization.
I plan on posting every Wednesday, bits and pieces of life as I see it.
I have one favor to ask: If you enjoy my blog, please pass it on to everyone you can think of.
If you don't like it . . . just keep that to yourself.
