Express Yourself

I love how the little guy uses words. Whether he's made them up or is repeating back what he's heard, he makes himself perfectly clear. One of his aunts was visiting and the first morning she overslept. When she found him, he said, "You slept during the day." She said, "I didn't mean to, but I did." Giving her a very stern look, he said, "That's not how it goes in our house!" Watching an animated movie, static electricity made the animals' fur puff out. He said, "Look--they plumped up!" (Such a lovely, old-fashioned word!) I have a small group of photos of him from when he was a really little guy. He looks very different now, but when someone teasingly asked him if he knew who was in those pictures, he said, "That's me being a baby." One afternoon he said, "I so tired. Where my tired come from?" (Many of us have that same question!) After my daughter patiently coached him through getting himself dressed for pre-school one morning, she asked him to help her carry some things downstairs. He usually loves being helpful, but this morning he said, "You can do hard things by yourself," and walked away. One of my favorites was from Christmas, when every night he wanted to go out in the car and see the houses "all twinkled up." Don't be surprised if you hear me saying the same thing this Christmas!

If I ever find out, I'll be sure to let you know.

I want to know where my "tired" comes from as well. It's a very reasonable question! LOL

I agree whole-heartedly! I'm doing my best to keep track until he's up to doing the job himself!

This child could likely compose his own little handbook of HELPFUL SAYINGS AND NEW WORDS FOR WHEN YOU JUST CAN'T FIND THEM YOURSELF!
