Christmas Songs 2020

Just like everything else in my life this pandemic year, this most special holiday season has been turned upside down. I'm sure it's much the same for you, too.

My immediate family members have all decided to err on the side of caution and not travel this year. My head knows it's the smart decision, but it's taking my heart a little time to catch up.

And the world seems quiet. Too quiet. I did 98% of my shopping online and my husband has stood in line at the UPS store. It's not that I miss that, exactly, but people carrying piles of shopping and Christmas music coming from all directions and interesting smells from every food establishment all add up to a pleasant holiday bustle. There's no bustle this year.

I think we could use some snow. Not a blizzard, although I'm not sure I could feel any more housebound. I'm thinking of just enough to put a good covering on the ground and shrubbery, making the world sparkle. You know, a Winter Wonderland.

We need music more than ever. Lots of it and maybe a little louder than usual. I want all the bells front and center--Jingle Bells can lead off. Carol of the Bells going Ding Dong Merrily on High comes next. A little Jingle Bell Rock would be welcome. But, one at a time please. I'm looking for help lifting my spirits, not a clamoring cacophony.

And wrap it up in time for Angels We Have Heard on High to announce Joy to the World.

Because that's what it's all about.
