Easy Christmas Entertainment
I don’t know how your holiday preparations are going now that there are only a handful of days left. And even fewer if you’re expecting guests who are going to stay for several days. Or more.
Full disclosure—my only house guests are my daughters, some with family. This does lessen the pressure somewhat. But they still need to get into their room and unpack. And I’d rather be spending time with them, not cleaning up clutter.
Over the years, as they’ve grown and I’ve aged, I’ve come to expect them to take over certain of the baking and decorating jobs. Hmm. I wonder if that’s why they’ve been nudging their arrival dates closer and closer to the 25th. Probably my imagination.
In the past I’ve discussed favorite Christmas movies and music and those are all great ways to get in the spirit and keep your energy from flagging. Today I have one more suggestion. Dip back into your childhood or that of your kids.
You’ll be surprised to see how well the old favorites holdup.
Yes, I’m talking about “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (1966 version), and “A Sesame Street Christmas.” Others that have stood the test of time are “Frosty the Snowman,” and “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Feel free to add any other shows that were favorites of yours.
They are all cheerful, at least by the end, and have great music, most of which you can probably sing in your sleep.
The idea is that you have these happy stories going on in the background and you can continue with your work, following the story without watching it full-time. You can pop back to the tv to watch any favorite scenes, then go on with what you were doing. Sing along. Hum along. Whatever.
The good memories (I nearly said vibes—how old am I, anyway?) will keep you energized and before you know it, you’ll have crossed off a lot of your To Do List and be feeling great.
A BLESSED, MERRY CHRISTMAS
AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR
TO YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES!
