A Visit with the Little Guy

May 02, 2018
I don't want to brag, but I have an announcement to make: I am now officially a Dragon Tra¬iner. Based on his current favorite movie, "How To Train Your Dragon," the little guy has devised a game. Standing on the deck of his pirate ship (part of the backyard) he throws rubber snakes at the Dragon Hunters to get them all tangled up so they can't hunt and kill the dragons. Apparently, the dragons are easy to train after that, since they appreciate the people who protect them. Turns out, I toss a mean snake. Who knew? After I swing it over my head a few times I fling it and it spins and travels a fair distance. I never missed--decked every imaginary Dragon Hunter who wandered into the yard. I'm very excited about this new skill and am on the lookout for other opportunities to use it. * * * One evening we took the little guy to a Japanese hibachi-style restaurant. He loves the show the chefs put on while they're cooking. While we were waiting for the show to start, Wyatt asked for chopsticks. I flagged our server and she brought us all chopsticks. The little guy opened his set and started to play with them, then asked again for chopsticks. I pointed out that he was holding chopsticks and he said, "for my lips." Oh. He wanted Chapstick.
