Another Failure

June 24, 2020
I almost said colossal failure, referring to last week's blog about downsizing my purse, but it seemed extreme for a handbag issue. As so often happens when I get excited about something, I don't always think through, or in this case, remember, all the important details. I remembered the small black purse that held the absolute essentials I wouldn't wanted to have stolen while traveling. I also figured that since I don't carry my Kindle around (it's a wonderful tool for travel, but I'm a paper girl all the way) I'd have some room to spare. Imagine the sound of a game show buzzer here. What I forgot was that on that trip I had a good-sized carry-on with the hair brush, tissues, datebook (I told you, paper) that count as essentials in my everyday life. So when I tried to stuff the bare necessities into that little black bag, it was all lumps and bumps. It looked like a small animal was trying to fight it's way out. Clearly, this wasn't the answer to my it's-too-heavy problem with the bags I've been carrying for years. What is the answer? Moderation. A middle ground. In other words, probably something along the lines of those just-a-little-too-small bags I gave away a couple of years ago. Well, don't I feel silly. On the plus side, I still get to do some shopping just for fun.

So true! I am looking forward to shopping--today, as a matter of fact!

Don't waste your time feeling silly! Just go out there and enjoy the pleasure of resuming some fun shopping. Besides, you'd probably realize you need to refresh your inventory if you'd kept those old ones.
